When traveling, a good waterproof camera is a must. If you're on the market for a quality waterproof digital camera that doesn't cost too much, then you should definitely take a look at the new camera from Sony, the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX5 10.2MP CMOS Digital Camera. This new model in the Sony Cyber-Shot line is really fantastic, whether you're indoors with poor lighting and plenty of motion, outdoors with lots of light and vibrant colours, or shooting some fun underwater pictures and videos, this camera will not only survive but thrive and take beautiful pictures.
The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX5 is slim and sleek, waterproof, dust proof, shock proof, and even freeze proof. The LCD is 3 inches wide and touch sensitive, making it easy to extremely easy to use (it's a lot like my iPhone, maybe they took a cue from Apple in the user interface).
  • Picture quality and video are fantastic
  • Underwater performance is extremely good for price
  • Quick power up time, can start up and take a picture in just a couple seconds
  • Low light mode is very effective, makes it easy to capture night shots
  • Extra features like "smile detection" are a nice touch
  • Overall, feels sturdy and well made
  • Touchscreen is a little small for me since I have big fingers
  • Suffers from same problem my iPhone does, ie. smudges all over screen
  • No optical zoom

In conclusion, a great camera especially at this price point. Although there are a few missing features, such as the lack of optical zoom, the overall quality of the camera more than makes up for it. The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX5 is a sleek and stylish addition to Sony's line of camera's. If you're looking for a good camera to use with the family, this is it. Being so small and easy to use, while still performing beautifully.
